PRICES WILL BE VOLITILE, especially in the first few waves listed. If you place an order you are expected to pay that order amount no matter what happens to the price of that figure. If either the price goes up or down, once you order you are locked in to that price for that figure.
We list in waves which helps keep 1 or 2 people from buying all of one item in one shot then us being out and helps spread the product to make as many customers happy as possible. Listing this way also allows us to tweak prices. Things that are selling fast will go up, slower movers will go down. These waves are listed a few times through out the day at more or less random times.
If you place multiple orders we do our best to combine them and send a refund for any extra shipping charged. Note though this is not guaranteed. Things can get pretty fast and furious around here for a few days trying to push as many orders out the door as possible. I dont think with Pathfinder minis its going to be as bad as past since the preorder period is so much shorter and our new website is a bit better from the admin side (more ways to sort and research) but it really helps if you make an account and place the orders while logged in.
A word about Pricing
As always we set our prices by two factors. The first is we set an amount we need to make off the product overall on average then the second is market demand. You might think $20 is too much for that Frost Giant but remember, if Im getting that much for him its why your paying $1 for the Half Elf Cleric (and I get a lot more Half Elf Clerics then I do Frost Giants). Im sure there will be a lot of whining on the various websites about *insert rare hot piece here* being so much and how sellers are gouging as there always is but if upi were to add up our single prices and account for rarity you would find we are selling cases around $250 and thats if every item sells out (which it wont, at least for some time). Case retail is $328 so its BELOW retail AND you get the benefit of picking what you need. Once we sell out of an item pricing will revert to our normal used buying and selling and thats purely market drivin (normally we buy used items at about 80% what we sell them for).
The average price we need to make per figure is a good bit higher than in the past (from WotC). This is due to several reasons listed below.
1) Most importantly, our discount (the amount we pay our wholesaler off the MSRP) is smaller than WotC. This is the biggest factor by far.
2) More packaging. We pay people to open and sort and more packaging means more time opening and dealing with trash which in turn means more pay. Note though this is somewhat offset by the fact there are no cards to sort unlike in the past so its not much of a difference.
3) Breakage. Based on past experience with Wizkids products I assume the amount of breakage either during manufacturing, sorting or shipping will be higher than WotC. So far in the sorting process this has been true but not as bad as I feared. Its still high enough though that it has to be built into our margins.
4) Its more or less a one shot item so we need to make a better margin. In the past we could just keep reordering so we didnt need to make as much profit per item to make the investment of time worthwhile and we could sell much closer to the bone. With Wizkids we have to preorder the amount upfront without any info on how well the sets selling. That means our order is more or less all we are going to get and means the RISK is much greater for us.
Thanks for your BIZ!
